Frequently Asked Questions

How does mPay benefit my practice?

mPay automates a simple process change that allows your office to obtain a card validation or authorization for payment from patients before they leave your office.

The simplified mPay point of service payment process increases your collection rate and eliminates billing and statement expenses, facilitating a more efficient, profitable, and patient-friendly business model for your practice.

mPay eliminates the confusing bills, invoices, and statements that patients typically receive and replaces them with a single, easy-to-understand payment summary at the point of service. This simplified process allows patients to leave your office confident that the payment process will be simple and complete.

How does mPay accurately estimate my patient's payment?

The estimator module of the system is designed to be customized for your prctice. It can be set up for use at Check-In or Check-Out. It calculates the maximum obligation the patient will have. The calculation takes into account benefit and deductible accumulator information provided through a real-time 271 payer response. Patients are advised that the amount is an estimate and usually reflects the maximum that they might have to pay.

How is paperwork reduced by mPay for my patients?

The patient no longer receives a bill.

The practice no longer needs to send bills weeks and months later to collect payment. Once the provider remittance advice is received the patients credit or debit card is changed and the bill is settled. The patient authorizes payment when the services are received.

How will the clinic and the patient be assured that the patient is only charged for the amount that they owe?

The charge against the patient's card does not actually occur until a 835 remittance advice has been received for a specific service date. Patients evidence of coverage (EOB) payment obligation will matche the amount on 835 remittance advice.

How can I assure patients that their insurance will be properly applied?

The mPay process of point of service card swipe does not change anything about the way a claim is submitted by the clinic to an insurance company. Patients should look to the EOB from their carrier to advise them of their payment obligation.

How will mPay integrate into my existing system?

mPay connects with a large number of the major practice management systems to exchange both scheduling and payment information. Please contact us to see if mPay has created an interface with your system. New connections are added monthly.
